   Presentation on police disparity analysis study

   The City Council held a work session and received a presentation from Bob Scales of Police Strategies LLC on a disparity analysis study of Richfield Police Department data. The discussion reviewed the study’s methodology, findings, limitations, and recommendations. Council members and staff discussed racial disparities in reported suspects, arrests, traffic stops, and use of force, as well as concerns about data quality and benchmarking methods. Staff stated that the Police Department had already begun implementing recommendations from the report, including new software and improved data collection for future police interactions. No formal council action or direction was taken during the work session, and council indicated the conversation would continue with future check-ins and additional analysis.
